Rhythm Game Weekend
Rolled up to see Impresario and OmahaProgrammer this weekend. Well, that and to play DDR at the arcade again. That was very nice. Ran about seven sets, which is pretty good considering how rusty I am. Still was able to squeak by on the Judy Crystal 9 footer on 5th Mix, which is theoretically the most difficult song I can do (it's max difficulty for the machine anyway). Then it was on to Helloise's birthday party (that's the name of her dwarf in Emo's D&D game). And there I played Rock Band. Several hours of Rock Band. And, much to my delight, I "dinged" in all the instruments except vocals, which I can do on Expert anyway (I love "Dead on Arrival" by Fall Out Boy; I can do it on Expert without looking at the screen). So now I'm on Hard on Guitar and Bass, if only barely, and Medium on Drums. Em reminded me to channel Void on Drums (to apply the Five Rings to the game, which I'd forgotten...). I thought it was funny that she actually used that phrase, "channel Void." Nice to know I'm not the only one who uses the Five Rings on rhythm games. That's what let me finally grasp Medium, but now I have a problem where I forget to blink. :-P So I had a really excellent Saturday. It's a shame next Saturday's not going to repeat that...
